Flushing Instructions

Many customers in the Wilderness WTP water system are still experiencing an unpleasant odor in their water. As new water is distributed from the treatment plant, this odor can be purged from the system. Odor reports should be submitted using our Contact Form.

If you are not experiencing an odor

- You do not need to flush, beyond normal usage. Doing so places a burden on the water and sewer system and prevents RSA from doing more aggressive flushing in areas where there are more customer complaints.

If you are experiencing an odor

- Flush from a single cold water tap (preferably an outdoor spigot) for 15 minutes. If the odor does not clear up, wait at least one hour and try again.

RSA will credit users for flushing. Please keep a record of the length of time spent flushing and the number of taps used. This will assist in calculation of a bill credit. This information can be reported using the form linked here.
