Water Treatment Process
Rapidan Service Authority operates five water distribution systems in Greene, Madison, and Orange counties. All treatment practices are approved by the Virginia Department of Health, and our treatment chemicals are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) as safe to use in drinking water. Below is an illustration of the basic process implemented for water distributed to the Madison, Greene, Route 15, and Wilderness service areas. Route 20 drinking water is groundwater which receives minimal treatment for pH control and disinfection.
